The Cave of Weapons at Meallan na Ghamhna

Meallan na Ghamhna, near Inverasdale

Late nineteenth century

Not many years before Dixon wrote, the wife of Murdo Cameron of Inverasdale and other women were gathering lichens from the rocks when they suddenly saw the cave and the weapons. They ran to get helpers to remove the arms, but when they came back no sign of either could be found.

Dixon was also told of a similar rocky fissure on the shore of Loch Maree, below the county road on the south-west side opposite Letterewe, where weapons hidden by the same means were visible once in seven years.

Coastal crags near Inverasdale; the exact cave is not identified.
