Campbell says Sir Lachlan and 80 near kinsmen and 200 clansmen were killed and 30 Macdonalds were killed and 60 wounded. The tradition adds that Sir Lachlan was followed all day by the little man, and when he lifted his helmet visor an arrow, one of the sort called an elf-bolt, went in at his forehead and out at the back of his head. After the battle the Elf told Macdonald, 'It was I who killed your enemy', and gave his name as Du-sith.
