The King's Lodge Hotel, Kings Langley

Bridge Road, Kings Langley

Traditional

The King's Lodge Hotel occupies a genuinely old building on Bridge Road in Kings Langley, its Grade II listing reflecting a documented history stretching back to the seventeenth century, and its ghost stories, while individually thin, cover a reasonably wide range of reported phenomena for a single site. The most consistently mentioned figure is a woman with distinctively piercing blue eyes, said to watch guests from the ladies' toilets, an unusually specific and slightly unsettling detail compared with the more generic grey ladies reported at many of the county's other hotels.

A second figure, an elderly man dressed in noticeably outdated clothing, is reported fading into view in the hotel's restaurant, sometimes sensed by guests as a presence without being directly seen, and at other times described as a clear visual sighting. Beyond these two figures, guests report phantom footsteps heard at night, lights that behave erratically, and even fire extinguishers that appear to react without any apparent cause, an oddly specific and modern detail that sets this account apart from more traditional haunted-hotel reports.

No identity or documented history has been established for either the blue-eyed woman or the old-fashioned man, and it remains genuinely unclear from the sources whether the various phenomena reported are connected to one figure, two, or several separate and unrelated occurrences within the same old building.
