The Green Lady of the White Hart, Andover

White Hart Hotel, Bridge Street, Andover

Inn dates to 1617; sightings undated

The White Hart in Andover is an old coaching inn, with a royal visit by Charles I recorded in its history. Its bar and dining area sit on different levels, which suggests they were once a run of smaller rooms.

The main ghost is a tall woman in green. Great British Life says she walks the top corridor, near a stained glass window that leads up to the bedrooms. Paul Lee's hotel gazetteer places her in room 20 and the corridor next to it, and adds that "vague shapes" have been seen in the bar and other rooms, one man describing them as like a semi-transparent man and woman. Footsteps have been heard in an upstairs corridor, and a maid is said to have locked herself in a room to get away from them.

Haunted Britain tells it with a man and a woman drifting silently past a witness, who said it felt "as if a couple of people had drifted through me". Ghost hunters reportedly set up cameras without result. No source names the figures or ties them to a dated event, and all the accounts are undated, so this stays a traditional hotel haunting with no known origin.
