Cathair Mhor and the Fairy Tarn near Kinlochewe

Lochan Cul na Cathrach, south-east of Loch Maree

Recorded 1886

Other mounds nearby are called Torran nan Eun, the mounds of the birds, and the area was once wooded. The Fasagh ironworkers are said to have thrown their tools into the lochan when the furnaces there were abandoned.

He takes the names as evidence that the good folk frequented the place.

Reachable on foot from Kinlochewe along the river path.
