The Headless Piper of Piper's Hill

Piper's Hill, Market Lane, Lisburn

1641 (as told)

Piper's Hill lies near the Linen Museum in Lisburn. The Digger, a local history columnist in 2007, wrote that the lone piper of 1641, who literally lost his head, was reported haunting the area. Ghost tour and listing sources say the piper was a military musician who lost his head to a cannon ball in the fighting of that year, and that he is still seen or heard.

Another house on the hill is said to be visited by a tall ghostly woman in clothing resembling Huguenot dress, who appears by the fireplace and walks into the kitchen before vanishing.

The 1641 piper looks like a local story that has been given a date and an accident, and no first-hand report is cited.
