The account is in Ronnie Patterson's article on the Scottish Big Cats site. McLeod described a large cat about the length of an Alsatian and two and a half feet tall, black with a long tail curving upwards and green eyes in the headlights. He said the animal held a dog or domestic cat in its mouth. He heard rustling as it went into leaves. The article says he and another witness, Mrs McCord, were made to feel foolish by police, and that McLeod overheard laughing in the background of his call.
A second witness in the same article, Mrs June Fell, saw a black animal about the size of a small German Shepherd run across a field behind her house and take off into a peat field. The article stresses that the witnesses did not know each other. The claims of an injured cat in the Pentlands are also mentioned, though the SSPCA did not respond to the author.
