The Invisible Cask of Gold at Fedan Mor

Fedan Mor, above Loch a' Druing (position approximate)

After 1746; sighting about 1826

With two other men he took the keg by boat from Mellon Charles to Cove and carried it up to the Fedan Mor, the large corrie above Loch a Druing. There he buried it and laid his amulet on the cask while pronouncing the spell, which made it invisible. Gairloch people firmly believed it was still there.

About 1826 the wife of Rorie Mackenzie, the big shepherd, was spinning in the corrie when she saw the head of the cask next to her. She stuck her distaff in it to mark the place and ran for help. When people returned, neither the cask nor the distaff could be found.

Remote hill country, no path to the corrie.
