An elderly man crossing Loch Tay from the Lawers side to visit his sister at Ardtalnaig was met near the farm by a huge grey dog beside a heap of stones called An Cam Mor, the Big Cairn. It kept pace with him a few yards off, stopping when he stopped and hurrying when he hurried. When he reached the front of the farmhouse it disappeared, but at the far gable it was there again, and he ran in and fainted. The MacKay tenants asked what had frightened him, and the farmer would not let anyone leave the hearth that night. The exact site of Claggan was not found in our searches, so the pin is a rough spot on the loch.
