Phantom Airmen at Eglinton and Maydown

City of Derry Airport, Eglinton, and Maydown

Reports undated; wartime setting

Eglinton, now the site of City of Derry Airport, was a Second World War airfield. Spirited Isle says workers at the airport and in the surrounding area, from Eglinton to Maydown, have reported seeing spectral figures in airmen's uniforms of the wartime era, apparently on manoeuvres in the general vicinity. The Derry Journal repeats the line.

No witness, date or exact spot is given, so it is an area reputation tied to a known wartime history.
