The Highland News reported that others suggested a Valentine's Day love lantern, but Jackson said a lantern was released in the Cairngorms at 6pm and his sighting was at 8pm, that it did not flicker and that it was too big. He said none of the sightings showed on radar. The story was also posted by a Canadian paranormal researcher. Sky lanterns are the common explanation for such lights, and no one else came forward with a sighting.
