At Newgale the A487 drops down to the long pebble bank and sandy beach at the head of St Brides Bay and then climbs again, with steep banks and cuttings in the rock. It is a road visitors remember for its views and locals for its bends.
Pembrokeshire Beyond's 2015 guide to haunted roads in the county includes it for one figure. Drivers have described a young man with fair hair, sometimes in a red jacket, who runs straight out into the traffic in front of them. Before they can react he is gone, and several say he seemed to run into the rock face at the side of the road. The site says reports have been made since the 1990s and that there had been recent ones.
No witness is named, and no accident or death is linked to the figure in the source. It is recorded here as a thin modern road ghost story.
