This short account is told by Johnnie Burnett of Stenness about forty years before the 2019 article that records it. It belongs to the same stretch of road as the phantom hearse of the Orphir road.
There is little to add. A car, a bend, the wrong side of the road, a flinch, and nothing. It is the modern equivalent of the older ghostly cart or coach story, with a car in place of the horses. It is a single undated report with no corroboration.
