Jonet Drever's trial is part of the same set of Westray cases as Katherene Bigland. Her confession is unusual because she described the supposed beings by the old polite name, the good neighbours, and placed the contact a generation before, about 26 years earlier.
Unlike many of those tried in Orkney she was not executed. She was flogged in public and banished. The sentence is a reminder that courts did not always send accused people to the stake.
The record is thin and the farm is not named, so the pin is at Pierowall.
