She threw fragrant herbs and nuts into the fire and, once the meal was eaten, Cú Chulainn could no longer fight his hostess. Her tears of love in the river are said to give anyone who dips their face in it eternal beauty, as long as it is left to dry naturally.
This version appears in recent travel writing. The older Scáthach and Cú Chulainn connection to Dunscaith in Sleat is documented in Wikipedia, but a source for the fairies and the face-dipping tradition earlier than the tourist era was not found.
