Stradey Castle is a large Victorian house in a wooded park on the north west edge of Llanelli, built in the 1850s for the Mansel Lewis family. Its name is better known locally from the old Stradey Park rugby ground nearby.
The listing site HauntedPlaces.org gives it two female ghosts. One is simply a woman from the nineteenth century. The other is a mother who lost her reason after hearing that her children had been killed in the Crimean War of the 1850s, the period when the house was being built. Neither is named. In Stradey Wood beside the house, the same site reports a figure in old-fashioned clothes, said to be a runner who was hit by a car there.
The reports are very short and none has a witness, a date or a source beyond the listing. They are recorded here as thin traditions of a private house.
