Robertson cites a verse from 'Ballads founded on Ayrshire Traditions' (1850) for the mermaid's song, and says that tradition does not give the fisher's surname. He tells the story alongside another mermaid omen of the Carrick shore (see the Viking rover record). It is a single-source tradition, and Wikipedia's Turnberry Castle article links to a retelling of it under the title 'The Sirens Song'.
