A 2020 Shields Gazette feature on Jarrow ghosts mentions the Lord Nelson in the heart of Monkton village. It quotes the Haunted Hostelries website, which says observers describe the ghost as looking nothing like what one would expect: he wears modern clothing, with an open-necked shirt and light-coloured trousers. He has been sighted walking behind the bar from one end to the other.
The Gazette treats him as more groovy than scary. Nothing else is given: no date for the sightings, no witness, no suggestion of who he might have been. The article also cheerfully notes that the pub is not particularly old.
This is a thin tradition from one secondary source quoting another website, so it is tagged as a single report. A pub ghost in modern dress does at least avoid the stock Grey Lady pattern.
