Beaghmore Stone Circles lie outside Cookstown on the edge of the Sperrin Mountains: seven circles with rows and cairns on the open moor, discovered in the 1930s and 1940s when farmers cut away peat. This record is only about the stories told there in recent years.
A 2018 article on Spooky Isles by a guest writer says visitors often report hearing children while in the circle named Dragon's Teeth, which contains over 800 small stones, and that some have felt a child touch their hand. The writer says remains of children were uncovered in that circle, which has not been checked here. A circle with three larger stones balanced to form a doorway is said by local legend to be a portal to or from another dimension.
The writer reports using a pendulum and says it swung clockwise or anticlockwise in different circles, which she reads as male and female energies. A pendulum is not an accepted test. Everything here should be treated as modern visitor lore attached to an ancient site.
