A house near Drumquin, built in the 1930s or 1940s, is reported to have been the scene of unsettling activity in the 1980s while it was being renovated. The family living there often heard unexplained footsteps upstairs when no one else was in the house.
The son, about to leave for college, was chopping and selling wood from the trees round the property to earn extra money. While working outside one day he was overcome with unease, looked up at the house and saw a woman watching him from a top-storey window. As he stared she vanished. He dropped his tools and fled.
Years later a paranormal writer who visited the site described a lingering discomfort. The house was still partly renovated and a pile of half-chopped wood still lay in the garden. The house is now derelict. It is not named in the source, and no location is given beyond the village.
