The Bermuda Village puma

Bermuda Village, Nuneaton

1976

Coventry Live's account of mystery animals in Warwickshire says that in 1976 a puma like creature was seen around the Bermuda Village district of Nuneaton. The police carried out a search of the area, and it was inconclusive.

The article gives no witness names or further description. It is among the earliest big cat reports in its list for the county.

The Dangerous Wild Animals Act came in the same year, and the article quotes one local researcher who believed that exotic cats were released by owners after it banned unlicensed ownership. That is an opinion, not evidence for this particular sighting.
