The Holed Stone Oracle of Applecross

Applecross, Wester Ross

1656

The same minute mentions frequent visits to ruined chapels and walking round them, adoring wells and other superstitious monuments and stones, and the sacrifice of bulls on 25 August to Saint Mourie. The presbytery's punishment was to make offenders appear before six congregations, ending at Gairloch.

Dixon prints the minutes in his appendix and refers to the stone as the oracular stone with the hole. Where exactly it stood is not stated.
