The Hauntings of Birkwood Castle, Lesmahagow

Birkwood Castle (Birkwood House), Lesmahagow

Reports from hospital days to the present

The account rests on popular ghost listings and Wikipedia, which agree on the list of phenomena but not always on the building's dates, and none of them identifies a source for Michael or for the stabbed man. A former hospital for children carries an obvious emotional weight, which may account for how easily such stories attach. Part of an outer wall collapsed in 2015, and some retellings link that to the haunting, which is a claim about coincidence and not about evidence.

The building is derelict and unsafe, and there have been several redevelopment proposals over the years.

The house is derelict and privately owned. It is not open to the public and entering is unsafe.
