The Big Cat Around Breich

Also known as: Beast of West Lothian

Breich and the A704, West Calder to Forth road

October 1995 and January 1997

In October 1995 the driver, who asked not to be named, saw the animal in the early hours on the A704. He said it was about four feet long and eighteen inches high, black, with a short snout, small ears and strong muscular legs, and it made off when he approached. In January 1997 Margaret McCord, 49, said she saw a stocky black cat-like animal creeping when she went to stable her daughter's pony at Chickering Cottage near Breich, and that she would not go back to the stables alone. She said it was not a dog or a fox and asked for animal experts to investigate.

The pin is on Breich village and is approximate.
