The Drowned Fiddler of Craigievar

Craigievar Castle, near Alford

Castle completed 1626; ghost legends undated

The National Trust for Scotland, which now looks after the castle, calls the fiddler the most frequently sighted spirit of Craigievar and sets it against a history of clan feuds and murder. VisitAberdeenshire states that the fiddler fell into a well in the kitchen and only shows himself to the Forbes family. The same piece mentions a Gordon pushed from a window in the Blue Room.

Wikipedia says only that, according to local folklore, the castle is haunted by one or more ghosts. There are no dated witness accounts.
