According to the only account found, the ghost of Y Faenol is not a person at all but a strange, bird-like thing. It is said to perch in the branches of the estate's trees and screech whenever any of them are about to be cut down, as if warning against it.
No witness, date or particular felling is named, and the story reads like estate lore rather than a reported sighting. The estate was broken up and sold in the late twentieth century, and the old parkland is now used for concerts and events.
