Glendevon Castle's Ghosts

Glendevon Castle, near Glendevon

15th century building; bar years 1966 to about 1987

The oldest part is a Z-plan structure from the early 15th century. In 1452, at the time of his murder, the castle belonged to William Douglas, 8th Earl of Douglas. The castle is on a private road north of the A823 between Glendevon and Gleneagles and is not visible from the main road.

The claim of three ghosts is all we can reliably give. Other pages give more detail about the apparitions, but we could not trace them to an independent source, so they have been left out. The pin is placed at the village because the castle is not shown on the main road.

The castle is on private land and is not visible from the main road.
