The Girl in the Corridor, Herm Manor House

Also known as: The face in the bonfire

Manor House and walled garden, Manor Village, Herm

Undated modern reports

The Manor House is the main house of the island estate, in the cluster of buildings around St Tugual's Chapel. Its ghost is not a monk, for once, but a child: a girl seen stepping out of a bathroom and walking off along a corridor, like someone living in the house.

The walled garden report is a photograph. Jenny and Peter Wood, who also reported the dog in the Monk's Bar, photographed the garden and found on the picture what looked like a big fire burning, where there had been no fire when they took it, with a face showing in it. The Guernsey Society of Dowsing, visiting separately, said the garden made them feel sick and light-headed.

These are anecdotal reports gathered by one investigation group, and a photograph with an unexpected blaze of light and a face in it invites the obvious questions about lens flare and pareidolia. They are included as recorded, and tagged as single reports. The Manor House is private accommodation.

The Manor House is private; the village and chapel area are open to visitors.
