Marion Braidfute, or Braidfoot, is known mainly from the 15th-century poem by Blind Harry, which is not a reliable record, and historians have doubted that Wallace had a wife of that name at all. She has been given homes in several Lanarkshire places, Lamington being one. The tie between her death and the sheriff's is the traditional version, and the sources here state only that the village is reputed to be her home.
