The Black Animal on the Loch Leven Road, July 2000

South side of Loch Leven, road below Benarty Hill

July 2000

It was black with a long body, a thick, undulating, rope-like tail and a squat face, unlike a dog, and he was about 25 to 30 metres away. He got out and looked over the fence but saw nothing and heard nothing. He reported it at Kinross police station, where a young constable took details and confirmed he was not alone in seeing a strange animal in the area. A follow-up note from another correspondent gives the location as the B9097 with flat fields on the loch side and a steep hillside on the other.
