Spirited Isle describes a historic building in London Street, Derry, refurbished by the Inner City Trust, in which tradesmen and staff reported strange phenomena. Heavy footsteps were often heard on the staircase when no one else was present. One workman felt a tap on the shoulder, turned and saw a tall man in dark clothes whose features were indistinct, almost blurred. The figure vanished, and the man was too shaken to continue.
Colleagues first took it for a prank, but several workers had similar experiences: they saw the figure, heard the footsteps or felt a sudden drop in temperature. After the building became offices, late workers sometimes heard phantom footsteps or felt a clammy chill pass by. The page says that in recent years the reports have stopped.
