The Shroud and the Spark: Daniel Dow's Death Omens

Minginish, Isle of Skye (place of the girl's death)

1703 account

She was in perfect health at the time, but Daniel saw a shroud close about her head and was confident her death was at hand. She died suddenly in the fields.

Martin adds that the same Daniel Dow foretold the death of a child in his master's arms by seeing a spark of fire fall on the child's left arm, which was also accomplished soon after. These are given as plain statements, without dates, but Martin collected them first-hand from the neighbourhood.
