The Boy Who Teased a Raasay Seer

Isle of Raasay

Before 1703

The master of the family scolded the boy and told the seer to give over his foolish predictions, since nobody believed them. The next morning the boy was at play near the houses, fell on a stone and wounded himself on the forehead so deeply that a hollow scar remained in that part of it.

Martin gives this as an example of seers' predictions of bloodshed fulfilled by an accident.
