Hauntings

Plympton Cottage

Whitchurch

A family occupying Plympton Cottage in Whitchurch experienced what they themselves described as sustained paranormal activity over a period of genuinely several years, prompting one family member, a former newspaper journalist by trade, to spend a full five years researching the property's own history in a determined attempt to actually explain what was happening to them.

That dedicated research uncovered a genuinely startling physical find to go alongside the already-reported activity: seven human skeletons buried directly in the grounds of the cottage, whose actual presence there was never fully explained anywhere in the coverage available for this entry.

The combination of a real archaeological discovery sitting alongside an already-reported haunting is genuinely unusual among Shropshire's wider ghost stories, most of which rest purely on inherited oral tradition rather than any physical evidence, and it makes this particular case well worth including even though the precise nature of the paranormal activity itself, beyond the family's own general sense of disturbance over those several years, remains fairly thinly described in the sources actually available.
