Rhymney grew up around its ironworks, and the brewery that started there in 1839 to slake the ironworkers' thirst became a large company. Its hobby-horse trademark was known across South Wales. Andrew Buchan was its first manager, and his name stayed with the business.
When brewing ended, the old offices became the Whitbread Centre and part of Rhymney College. According to the Great British Ghost Tour, Buchan has never quite left. A number of people have reported seeing him in the building, and footsteps are heard walking the upper floor when it is empty.
No dates or witnesses are named. The pin is placed at Rhymney rather than the exact building.
