The Benedictine Monk of the Acton Arms, Morville

The Acton Arms, Morville

Undated, modern pub reputation

Morville is a village on the A458 between Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock. The Morris Leisure feature calls the Acton Arms the most frequently haunted pub in Britain.

It says a good chance exists of meeting a Benedictine monk, supposedly seen daily walking an upstairs corridor. Little is known about him, but some locals suggest he is the ghost of Richard Manners, Abbot of Shrewsbury.

The "most frequently haunted" claim is a pub reputation with no counted records behind it, and no witness or date is given. The abbot identification is a local guess, not evidence.
