The Ghostly Cat of Bacup Road, Todmorden

Also known as: Todmorden phantom cat

Bacup Road, Todmorden

2011

The Brighouse Echo included Bacup Road in its 2020 list of the most haunted places in Calderdale. Bacup Road leads out of Todmorden towards the Lancashire border, and the paper says a spooky event happened there in 2011, when a ghostly brown cat with high hind legs was reported wandering along the road.

That is all the detail given. There is no witness name, time of day or account of why the cat was thought to be ghostly rather than an odd looking real animal. The description of long hind legs is the only distinguishing feature offered.

Nothing else about the sighting was found. It is recorded as a single report with the location approximated to the road, not to a particular spot along it.
