When the milk of his own cows was spoiled so that it gave no fruit, he discovered by his art the woman responsible, who lived near Strath. One Sunday morning, as the Strath people walked to church, she was held back by his occult power. She tucked up her skirt and jumped violently backwards and forwards over the little burn by the road, in front of what became the police station, until the congregation came out.
Afterwards the fruit returned to the milk of the schoolmaster's cows. Dixon gives the moral that one should not meddle with those who have magical powers.
