The Minister's Kiln Fire and the Funeral by the Wrong Road

St Mary's parish, west Skye (place not located)

Before 1703

The man insisted it would, before Hallowtide, so the minister took the key and kept it until the date was past, saying that would make the Devil and the servant liars. Then the servants dried corn, were told to take care, and the kiln took fire and was all in flame, though the man had mistaken the day.

Martin adds a second case from the same parish and minister. A man saw a corpse coming to the church not by the common road but by a rugged way, which his neighbours thought absurd. A neighbour then died, and the funeral did take that rough way because the common road was filled with deep snow.
