The old Carnegie Library in north Belfast is reputed to be haunted, with reports resembling long-term poltergeist behaviour. Although the building is locked and empty at night, nearby residents frequently speak of disturbances. Interior lights are seen flickering on and off after dark. Others report footsteps, faint bangs and, most strikingly, the unmistakable sound of the heavy internal doors opening and closing by themselves.
The incidents are said to have continued over many years, giving the old library a lasting reputation as a quietly unsettling place.
