The Sick Man Who Would Not Die in His Own House

St Mary's parish, Trotternish (place not located)

Before 1703

The neighbours laughed and Archibald said he would renounce his part of heaven if the man died there. He added that the sick man would be carried out alive and would never return, and named the carriers. Lachlin lived some weeks longer than expected, proving troublesome, and his friends decided to move him against his wishes into the house across the entry.

His feet were scarcely over the threshold when he died, and the two neighbours Archibald had named were the ones carrying him. Martin says Archibald had seen him all white in a shroud as he was carried in.
